During the Designers’ Days from 19th-25th May 2014, the American Architect Elliott Barnes occupied the Louis the 16th wing of the Mus e Carnavalet. The exhibition proposed a dialogue between furniture designed by Elliott Barnes and the museum’s permanent collection. This piece was executed thanks to the talents of the most accomplished French artisans. This “savoir-faire” is equally honoured in the historical collection of the Mus e Carnavalet, which is dedicated to the history of Paris. The structure made of bent steel is connected by a ring. The frame is made of solid pieces of chestnut wood, assembled with a dovetail technique that has crossed the times since antiquity; the final stained matte finish is used to maintain an aesthetic as close as possible to raw wood; a steel sheet, positioned in centre of table top creates an aesthetic link with the base and ensures durability.
