The Club is just as busy as ever, with racing on each week including Sunday keelboat and centreboard events. The Club’s Portuguese Picnics are on again each month and the Selden for Sailing Ice Breaker Series will see a buzz of activity from the Centreboard division with their monthly Winter regatta. Saturday’s during May, the Lion Island Series will be held followed by the Winter Series and Early Bird Series, new this season is also the Women’s Helm Series. This will be a mini Series as part of the Saturday Winter program. Nominate your female helm for the first race of each month to score in this event. Sunday’s will bring an array of weekly events, Two Handed Series, Women’s Winter Series, Dustbuster mini regatta Series for the early risers, Selden for Sailing Ice Breaker Series and the social Portuguese Beach Picnic. There’s something for everyone! Cruising has a number of great activities planned - Vivid on Sydney Harbour, Marvelous May cruise, June Long weekend cruise and planning for the 2019 Coral Coast cruise. Club Social events begin with the monthly First Friday dinner and guest speakers, open to all members and guests to attend. May saw John and Jan Nicholls talking about their sailing adventures, with over 100 attending and in June Cruising Helmsman editor Phil Ross will speak. Closing out each month is the Sunday Portuguese Beach Picnic, so bring your boat and bbq lunch with you and enjoy the day on the beach. The Club provides a BBQ and tender service from your boat to the beach. Mother’s Day celebrations will be in full swing on Sunday 13 May. Book your table early for Breakfast at the Club (lunch is already sold out!). The Lighting of the Fire, held on Friday 25 May brings Past, Present and Future Olympians’ together and special guest Nic Douglass and Jason Waterhouse will speak on their experiences and adventures. A silent auction is also running to win a fantastic coaching experience with Bob Wilmot and Traks Gordon. Don’t miss this great annual event. With the completion of the Spring and Summer racing seasons the Yachting Presentation Dinner and prizegiving is scheduled for Saturday 19 May, 2018, followed by the Centreboard Presentation dinner and prizegiving on Saturday 26 May, 2018.
