The second of January saw the start of the 2018 Club Marine Pittwater to Paradise
Regatta taking the fleet the 370nm to the idyllic beaches of the Gold Coast and
Southport Yacht Club.
The weather wasn’t able to push the front runners fast enough to set a World Record
race results based on the 2017 benchmark finish but saw the fleet finish by Thursday
evening. A strong southerly took its toll on some boats which had to retire with boat
damage and some with crew injuries, all of whom are ok and will be back again in 2019
to in compete the race. The Southport Yacht Club again welcomed competitors to the
Gold Coast and hosted another 4 days of racing with the Sail Paradise Regatta. Club
Members, Rob Alder & Bill Bailey and crew, racing Occasional Course Language One
took out the overall Sail Paradise Regatta Trophy a combined score of the Ocean Race &
Sail Paradise Regatta. Full report later in this newsletter.

The Cruising Division was busy over the Christmas and New Year with cruises and shore
events in Sydney and Jervis Bay.
Centreboard members had numerous regattas from Sail Sydney to a host of National
titles in QLD at Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and Southport Yacht Club.
