Paddle Lake Lure (Chimney Rock)
There are several options available for access to the lake. You can purchase a daily, weekly, monthly or annual boat permit
through the Town of Lake Lure. Launches for boats, kayaks and canoes are located at Washburn Marina and behind the
ABC Liquor Store on Memorial Highway. The deep, clear lake has a maximum depth of 104 feet and contains various
species of fish inhabit Lake Lure, such as large mouth and small mouth bass, trout, bream/bluegills, crappie, white bass, carp
and several species of catfish.
Rocky domes and green peaks surround the family-friendly lake on all sides. Canoes and kayaks are available for rent at
the Lake Lure Marina. The family-friendly beach next to Lake Lure Marina offers water slides, a swimming area with beach
and plenty of areas to enjoy a picnic (day use fees apply). Visit the Lake Lure Beach website to learn more.
For those looking to explore the other side of the lake, the recently renovated restaurant at Rumbling Bald Resort offers
great food with a unique sports bar environment while offering outdoor recreation amenities including a very nice beach

Directions from Asheville: Take I-240 E to Exit 9. Stay on 74A E for 20 miles. The Lake Lure Visitor Center is a few miles
past Chimney Rock Park on the left just before reaching Lake Lure.
