COX GIVING With Cox Foundation support, PATH will soon complete its 300th mile of trail. been partners in that progress. From PATH’s earliest days, Jim has chaired every PATH capital campaign, leading the way to make the dream of a more livable Atlanta a reality. Since PATH’s inception, the Cox Foundation has been the largest private donor. As the designated trail builder for the City of Atlanta and the trail-building partner for the Atlanta BeltLine, PATH has built hundreds of miles of trails that also serve as linear parks, creating new green spaces that bring people together, connect neighborhoods and enhance health and community well-being. Working collaboratively with government and community partners, PATH projects have become iconic across the region: the Silver Comet Trail, Atlanta BeltLine trails, the Arabia Mountain trail and many others. 48 In 2018 PATH, supported by a $6 million Cox Foundation grant, launched its newest initiative: an $18.5 million campaign to undertake several projects that will result in completion of PATH’s 300th mile of trail. This effort will leverage over $80 million from state, city and county sources for a total impact of more than $100 million. The central result of this initiative is the extension of an existing trail to reach downtown Atlanta, making it the longest paved trail in the U.S. at 105.2 miles, spanning two states. As PATH approaches its third decade, Cox remains deeply committed to its transformational mission, helping to make Atlanta one of the most trail-connected cities in the country. And because of PATH, millions of Georgians enjoy greener, healthier and more vibrant communities.
