COX CONSERVES
OUR SUPPLY CHAIN:
Abundant Opportunities
for Environmental Progress
Driving positive environmental change requires an intense, consistent focus on our sustainability objectives and
the changes necessary to achieve them. Doing our part to address the world’s biggest environmental challenges
requires us to broaden our perspective to assess all the ways Cox can be a catalyst for better environmental outcomes.
In 2017, we began partnering with the consulting firm, EY, on a new initiative to thoroughly evaluate our supply chain
and devise a consolidated sustainable supply chain strategy.
Our supply chain has a significantly greater impact on the environment than our operations:
WATER WASTE CARBON
Operations:
421 million gallons used
(multiplier) 28.5X Operations:
18,000 metric tons produced
(multiplier) 33X Operations:
476,000 metric tons emitted
(multiplier) 2.5X
Supply Chain:
12 billion gallons
used Supply Chain:
600,000 metric tons
produced Supply Chain:
1.18 million metric tons
emitted
The project seeks to identify where our supply chain
dollars are driving the highest environmental impact.
Key opportunities within supplier groups were identified,
and Cox teams use those insights to tailor sustainability
RFP and contract requirements to the industry.

In pursuit of our enterprisewide goals, we have defined
a new sustainable supply chain governance structure,
researched leading practices in the field, and are currently
engaging corporate and divisional stakeholders to gain
buy-in on the governance structure. This will be a multiyear
effort, and we’re excited about the potential to significantly
increase our positive environmental impact.
