ASTM E96 / E96M-16 ; test Condition : Procedure BW – Inverted Water Method at 73.4 ° F ( 23 ° C ) & 50 ± 2 % RH ; Orientation : Back Side Facing To Water
JIS L 1092:2009 + A1:2020 , Section 7.1 ; Hydrostatic Head ; Method B , Rate of Increase of water pressure : 100kPa / min ; temp . of distilled water : 20 ± 3 ° C ; Face Side Facing Water )
JIS L 1099:2012 ; Method B-1 ( Potassium Acetate ), Back Side Facing to Water For B-1 & B-2 Temperature of water : 23 ° C Temperature of room : 30 ° C +/ - 2 ° C
Different brands use different test standards , which makes the results not always comparable . Some brands use the Japanese standard ( JIS ) and some use the EU-standard ( ISO ). Since these tests are performed in different conditions ( chemicals vs . water ), they have different results / scores ( and are therefore not directly comparable ). For Printer Active Wear and Harvest Sportswear , we ’ re performing tests according to the EU-standard . For water resistance we use the ISO 811:1981 standard and for breathability the ASTM E96 / E96M-16 standard .
