“LOWRIDERS AND ART CARS
GATHER AGAIN” EXHIBIT BY ARTIST
IRVIN TEPPER
In conjunction with Art Car Victoria 2015 through
May 31st, The Nave Museum will be hosting a
fascinating exhibit by New York-based artist Irvin
Tepper. Known for his experimental work using
sculpture, ceramic, drawing, photography, video
and printmaking, Tepper probes media specific
parameters to investigate the tensions between
narrative and form. The “Lowriders and Art Cars
Gather Again” exhibit focuses on the MexicanAmerican cultural and artistic contribution to the
American genre of the automobile - the lowrider.
These automobiles start as a symbol of personal
expression and symbolize cultural pride for their
creators, their family, and the community in which
they live. This not-to-be-missed exhibit includes
photographs of the cars, along with portraits
and videos of the people within the lowrider
community itself.
The “Lowriders and Art Cars Gather Again” exhibit
will be on view inside the museum along with art
car creations presented by some very young artists
residing in Victoria. These talented youngsters are
students from local schools which participate in the
Manhattan Art Program (MAP). Their work features
miniature sculptures of art cars. The skill of these
young artists is shown clearly in the intricate details
of their art and portrays
imagination, creativity,
