Language diversity
We use language to express our inner thoughts and emotions and to learn to
communicate with others. Communication is a very important part of our lives. It
helps human beings to connect with each other. Nowadays around 240 languages
are being spoken in Europe. Some people think that diversity of languages is a bad
thing and that it only divides us and makes communication harder. I, on the other
hand, think that language diversity is a beautiful thing that actualy brings people
from different cultures together.
Firstly, all languages have their individual value and importance. Russian,
German, English, French and Italian are the five languages spoken by most people
in Europe. Each language has its own history and origin, its own sounds, grammar
and vocabulary, hence the complexity of each and every language.
Secondly, languages are an important part of every culture. If a language
disappears, a culture also disappears. Languages and cultures are constantly
changing. Languages are always in contact with each other, and affect each other
in many ways. For example, borrowing words is a kind of influence that one
language can have on another.
Nowadays, most languages borrow words from
English, just as English used to borrow words from French and Latin.
Furthermore, people influence each other in the way they speak and write.
Understanding different cultures gives us the opportunity to learn more and to
explore more. Diversity can create curiosity. If we were exposed to different people
and culture
