Rural Illumina: MDI Special
If you think that conducting a market research is a dusty,
sweaty and boring affair, then this post is a must read for you.
Every year the students of Illumina ,the 19 year old disguised
market research club of MDI Gurgaon, visit Pataudi, a small
village near Gurgaon during the Dussehra Mela and conduct
the rural format of Illumina. Rural Illumina has previously
been associated with brands like Airtel, Maruti Suzuki and
State Bank of India.
A disguised market research format is one where the
respondents are not surveyed through direct mention of brand
or product names, but through unconventional formats like
plays, skits, games or any other innovative ways.
This year too, amidst the Ravan standing tall, women
bargaining at the bangle shops, kids enjoying kulfi and the
thumping 80's music, Pataudi welcomed Rural Illumina 2015.
Illumina partnered with Idea for its disguised market research
which involved understanding of value added services among
rural consumers and their requirement from it.The team
engaged more than 200 people and captured their opinions
through a game which was a part of the disguised research
plan.People were asked about the kind of phones they have, to
which came some very interesting replies ranging from
Micromax to IPhone 6. The kids were jumping around with
excitement. All in all it was a day well spent with a lot of
learning combined with enjoyment, friends and laughter for
the students of Illumina and a cheerful event for the visitors of
the Dussehra Mela.
