iQor India inks pacts with ESSCI, Centum TS likely to introduce “IT Skill Education” from
Learning
Class 9
The Electronic Sector Skill Council of India (ESSCI) on
November 4 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
with iQor, a global provider of customer contact solutions and
product support services, for electronic sector skill
development training of youth in India. A similar collaboration
was inked on the day with Centum Learning Limited to provide
Customized Capability Enhancement Solutionsto over 20,000
employees ranging fromfrontline and junior to middle and
senior management across global offices situated across all
their offices in India. Centum and iQor shall also partner in
iQor's endeavor for need based sourcing of skilled manpower
from Multi-skill Development Centers established by Centum
under Pradhan MantriKaushalVikasYojana (PMKVY)and
various other initiatives.
iQor announced an investment of $200 million (around ? 1,300
crore) over the next three-five years to expand its market in
India, which will help in creating 20,000 new jobs all over India.
Currently the company, the largest aftermarket services
provider in the world, operates depot repair/refurbishment
services at state-of-the-art facilities in Manesar (Gurgaon),
Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, and company ownedcompany operated premium customer-branded walk-in centers
and on-site services in 82 cities and 17 states. iQor also operates
a 1,000-seat contact center in the Delhi National Capital Region
(NCR). The partnership with the ESSCI will help provide a
standardized curriculum and training methods with the help of
its strong 79 training partners.

iQor reiterates the need for skilled resources in the country.
ESSCI will extend the best of support to create opportunities of
training and employment, for the youth exploring jobs in this
sector.” Sanjeev Duggal, CEO & Director, Centum Learning
said, “In this strategic partnership, we will be able to create
significant employment opportunities with iQor for many
through our PMKVY Multi-skill Development centers and
various other centres from all over India”.
Mphasis to train 500 underprivileged youth
Bengaluru-based IT solutions company, Mphasis provider and
The/Nudge Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses
on sustainable poverty alleviation,will provide life skills
training to the underprivileged. The partnership brings
innovative approach to improving India's massive skill deficit.
Gurukuls, the four-month residential programme will aim to
impart life-skills, literacy as well as livelihoods to the
youngsters from disadvantaged communities across Bengaluru.
In the first batch of the Gurukul, female students will be trained
to be placed as beauticians and the male students will get trained
as drivers. In addition, intensive courses from English language
literacy to financial literacy to family management shall be
imparted by industry experts.

Government of Telangana is likely to introduce “IT Skill
Education” in Telangana Schools from Class 9 according to
Jayesh Ranjan, IT Secretary, Govt of Telangana. Interacting
with media men on the sidelines of a Mental Arithmetic
Competition conducted by SIP Academy in
Hyderabadrecently.Ranjan said Airtel's, Bharti Foundation has
been in talks with the state government to introduce IT Skill
Education in Schools in our state from Class 9 onwards.
However, nothing is finalized yet he added.
17.79 million skilled workforce in Handlooms
and Handicrafts Sector needed by 2022
India is the biggest producer of jute in the world with 1.67
million tonnes, second in silk production with 23679 MT,
second in cotton production with 5.7 million tonnes, while fifth
in synthetic fibre production during 2012–13.India is the biggest
exporter of yarn in the international market with 25 percent
share in the world yarn export market; along with 12 percent
share in yarn and textile fibre production in the world. India has
the highest capacity of loom with a share of 61 percent in the
world loom age. To maintain our leadership position India will
require skilled manpower with latest expertise and knowledge
about the sector.
