Passage
About the Work
Passage is a piece I composed for the opening
and closing credits of the annual Association of
International Commercial Producers (AICP) awards
show under the musical direction of Emoto Music. The
visuals were heavily influenced by vintage American
travel posters. The director wanted a flowing, moving
piece that always felt like it was going somewhere:
traveling, like the posters suggested. I started the
composition process with a simple guitar ostinato in
5/4 time. In order to augment the feeling of movement
I layered in percussion performed by Jo Pusateri.
Gabriel Moffat on pedal steel guitar added a flavor of
Americana.
