MAKEUP Looks to last Norton-based Amanda Bell, former head makeup artist for the BAFTAs and UK makeup artist and trainer for Lancôme, boasts a client list featuring Sienna Miller, Goldie Hawn and Jessica Biel. She shares her secrets with Tees Life readers… W ith everyone looking for ways to polish up their makeup looks ahead of the fast-approaching wedding season, I thought this would be a great time to share with you some of my summer makeup tips. Radiant, smooth, healthy skin with soft, smoky eyes and plump lips is always a great look to take you from sunny summer days to balmy nights, so read on for the best techniques to make your makeup sizzle. Better still, come along to one of my makeup master classes and I’ll coach you through it all, step by step! You’ll want your look to last until the last dance, so the best thing to do is prepare your skin well using a primer. Make sure your skin in fully hydrated by using a hydrating serum under your moisturiser. I’m currently using The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. I also use an amazing primer which literally makes your makeup up waterproof - Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer. Use a pea- sized amount and massage well into skin, paying attention to any areas with open pores or an uneven texture. Leave for a minute or so to “set”. Get your skin glowing by mixing bronzing drops into your foundation - I really like The Body Shop Honey Bronze Drops of Sun - and apply with a brush in small CARRO Studio circular movements to buff your skin for a natural but smoothed finish. Then use a slightly lighter shade of concealer to disguise dark circles under the eyes, blended over cheekbones and eyelids to brighten. Next, use a matt bronzer to sculpt under cheekbones, jaw line and temples to warm the skin and shape the face. A sweep of champagne-coloured highlighter on the top of cheekbones and a pop of blush on the apples of the cheeks will have you glowing. I’m in love with red blusher – just a hint of it gives you that warm summer skin vibe. Smoky bronzes, golds and coppers work on most eye colours for a hot summer, sexy feel - but if you want to work your outfit colour into your makeup, do it by smudging your chosen colour into the lash line, top and bottom for a modern and totally wearable result. Add a touch of sheen by using your ring finger to blend a shimmer shade across the lids. I love Hourglass Scattered Light Eyeshadow - it’s shiny but not too sparkly. A good slick of black volumising mascara and some corner lashes will make your eyes scream sophistication. Lastly to lips…plump up your pout by using a liner in the same shade as your lipstick to push your lip line outwards a millimetre or two. The difference is amazing but still looks natural. Fill in with lipstick and add gloss to the centre of your lips to make them look even fuller.
