Wynyard-based Baldwins has taken on three new starters , as well as promoting four established members of staff within its award-winning team .
All hailing from the North East , Jamie Cuthbert , Sunny Singh and Stephanie Bagley have joined the company ’ s accounts and audit department , following a rise in demand for its services from its clients across the region .
The additions take the total number of new starters in 2017 to seven and the total number of staff employed at the Wynyard office to 70 .
Lee Fleetham , Expanded Metal Company Expanded metal mesh manufacturer the Expanded Metal Company has bolstered its senior team with the appointment of a new operations manager .
Lee Fleetham has joined the Hartlepoolbased company – a specialist in the manufacture of expanded metal products – to oversee the operations of the company , develop and review strategies , and manage process improvement .
His role includes overseeing lean production techniques , managing continuous improvement programmes and to develop high-performance teams .
Tony Parkinson , Middlesbrough Council Middlesbrough Council has appointed Tony Parkinson as its new permanent chief executive .
The move was agreed at a meeting of full council following a recommendation from the Chief Officer Appointments Committee .
Mr Parkinson has undertaken the role in an interim capacity since August last year , and was previously the authority ’ s executive director of commercial and corporate services .
He has worked in local government for more than 25 years , all of it in Middlesbrough and for the last 14 years at chief officer level .
Paul Drechsler , Teesside University Business leader Paul Drechsler CBE has been revealed as Teesside University ’ s new chancellor .
He becomes the university ’ s third chancellor , succeeding Lord Sawyer of Darlington , who has served in the post since 2005 .
Drechsler , who is president of the Confederation of British Industry ( CBI ), began his career on Teesside , working for ICI for 10 years . He then held various senior positions , living in Brazil , the USA and the Netherlands , which concluded with five years as chief executive of one of ICI ’ s principal international businesses and as a main board director .
Drechsler is currently chairman of Bibby Line Group and was previously chairman and chief executive of the privately-owned construction firm Wates Group . He ’ s also chairman of the board of the charity Teach First and a board member of Business in the Community and of the UK International Chamber of Commerce .
Drechsler will take up his position as chancellor of Teesside University in the autumn .
Tom Green , Simon Pettett , Sam Hood and Matthew Jones , Mabo Media Middlesbrough digital marketing agency Mabo Media has recruited four new members of staff including three apprentices .
Mabo Media , based at Boho Five , has been in operation for over four years and works with high-profile brands including Montane , Lifestyle Fitness and Totes .
The firm has more than doubled staff numbers every year since its inception in 2013 , with this latest recruitment drive taking its workforce up to 23 .

Sarah Bowman- Abouna , Stockton Council Stockton Council has appointed a new director of public health .
Sarah Bowman- Abouna , a qualified specialist in public health , is responsible for determining the overall vision and objectives for public health in the council ’ s borough .
The appointment follows the departure of Peter Kelly – now regional director at Public Health England – and the appointment of Ann Workman as the council ’ s new director of adults and health .
Bowman-Abouna had been in the role of interim director of public health for the council , where she has previously worked as consultant in public health and then assistant director of public health .
She has a background in public health and NHS management , working in a variety of organisations including primary care trusts , the North East Strategic Health Authority and Newcastle University .
