Young duo join Stokesley firm’s payroll
D
irectors at Applied Integration say
two of their former apprentices
who’ve won permanent contracts
can follow in their footsteps by
becoming the Stokesley firm’s future leaders.
Three of the systems integrators’ four
directors began their working lives as
apprentices – and they are now giving
talented young engineers an opportunity to
follow a similar route to the top.
Both former students at Middlesbrough’s
Macmillan Academy, new recruits Jordan
Wales and Conner Harvey have become fully
fledged members of the Applied Integration
team after successfully completing their
apprenticeships.
Applied Integration director Garry
Lofthouse, who began his career as an
apprentice instrument technician with former
chemical giant ICI, says the company is
investing in its long-term future.
He said: “With three of us being former
apprentices ourselves, the directors
understand the impact a first class
apprenticeship can have on the careers of
talented young people.
“For that reason, we’re absolutely
committed to providing apprenticeship
opportunities to local young people – and
it’s fantastic to be able to reward Jordan and
“It’s fantastic to be able to attract
and retain talented local people in
the area and specifically here at
Applied Integration.”
Conner for their hard work and dedication
by taking them on as Applied Integration
employees.
“There’s no question they can become
great ambassadors for our business. It’s
naturally still a long way from here, but there
are no reasons why they can’t become our
leaders of the future.”
Wales has joined Applied Integration’s
full-time staff after moving on to study for
a degree in computer sciences at Teesside
University after completing an HNC.
Now a junior control engineer, he has
joined an experienced team working across
multiple projects, continuing to enhance
his skillset in such areas as coding, design,
testing and commission.
Harvey has been given an initial temporary
contract as he seeks to complete an
HNC in instrumentation and control at the
university, having already graduated from
Middlesbrough College with a BTEC level 3
diploma in Engineering.
He is also continuing to add to his skills
as his role gives him chance to work with a
range of top-level programming languages.
Lofthouse added: “It’s fantastic to be able
to attract and retain talented local people
in the area and specifically here at Applied
Integration. We do like to give local people
opportunities to create what can be very
successful careers for themselves.
“It’s down to their dedication and
commitment that they’ve come out of their
apprenticeships with skills and qualifications
that are applicable worldwide.
