WELCOME
Columnist Harry Pearson looks back on
a surprising trip to Middlesbrough…
FOREWORD by Chris Petty
What an amazing place Teesside is – still thriving despite a year
of turmoil and instability on the political front. Given the number
of setbacks this area has had in recent years, it just goes to show
what great resilience we have here.
T
ake a flick through the pages of the
Summer edition of Tees Business and it’s
impossible not to notice just how many
Teesside organisations are achieving great
things and remain ambitious for more.
As a Boro fan, league tables have been
something I’ve tried to avoid in recent months
but I made an exception when I heard Tees
Business had produced a league table for food!
As someone who loves eating out, I was
fascinated to the see the results of the poll
among Teesside’s business community for the
best restaurants on Teesside.
You can read the full results inside this
issue, so I won’t spoil it for you but I can reveal
that Café Sapore and The Masham, both in
Hartburn Village, were my top two choices,
closely followed by Vadah alongside the river in
Stockton.
Apart from the latter, it’s perhaps no
coincidence that my choices are within walking
distance of my house!
As always, Tees Business is packed with
positivity about the local business scene,
so it’s a publication I believe we should all
be rightly proud of. Cornerstone Business
Solutions is certainly proud to be part of the
furniture in this magazine.
In this issue, I’ve chosen to focus my advice
/10-11 TEES UP!
column – see page 12 – on offering guidance
to local companies who may be leaving
themselves open to cyber-attacks similar to the
one that recently paralysed NHS systems.
Although the cyber-attack has fallen out of
the news, organisations would be making a big
mistake to believe the danger had now passed.
Although it only hit the headlines following
the attack on the NHS, this particular
ransomware has been around for a while – and
it’s fair to assume it’s not about to disappear.
Cyber-attacks are a real and present danger,
so do spend a few moments to take heed of
our advice.
Having recently been voted Best IT
Services Company in the North East in the UK
Corporate Excellence Awards, we’re also proud
to be rolling out ultrafast broadband across the
region as the area’s only Business Partners of
Virgin Media Business.
Running on next generation optical fibre
cables, Virgin Media Business’s ultrafast
business broadband is more than three times
faster than the next fastest available on the
open market, so get in touch if you think we
can help.
