One of the most important things is having a companion or a friend. It is important to have a friend because
sometimes you just need someone who will be there for you at all times. In some point in life you will find
your perfect pal, or as some people say your “ride or die” person. They will always be with you no matter
what and never care what others think. A website called, “Psychology Today,” stetes 15 reasons why friends
are important to have. The article, written by Susan Krauss Whitbourne, explains that , “One of the most
important and yet least understood areas of psychology concerns the role of friends in our lives”. The author
pulls together the available and wide-ranging academic literature on friendship with personal insights and
interviews, exploring all aspects of friendship in a thoughtful and engaging way. She states that having
friends helps us to define our priorities and learn more about the world. Whitbourne reminds her readers
that “Being a friend is a great honor and responsibility, so treat your friends carefully and never let them go.
