From sports to homework, high school seems like a cool place, but will it be as
challenging as most people say? Keep reading to see what students of Covina
High school think.
The transition from Traweek to Covina High seems really hard. New school, new
people, and etc., but exactly how hard can that transition be? Vivian Nguyen, a
former traweek student said, “Teachers tell you stuff like high school isn’t going
to be nice to you, but at Covina High, it’s really relaxed and it isn’t as hard as
you’d expect it to be.” So maybe High school won’t be so bad? Let’s see what
Jerry DeGeorge, also a former Traweek student said, “The campus is big so it’s
easier to get lost, and the homework change was pretty hard for me, but once
you get used to everything, Covina High is a really cool school.” Just like
everything else, high school is going to take some getting used to
Also, there is more things to do at Covina High.
Whether it’s an elective that’s not at Traweek, sports, or
more homework, you get to do more. As Jerry said
before that the homework change was hard for him.
What about Vivian? She said “That would depend on
the teachers and classes you have. Some teachers are
good, but some of them give you a lot more work. It all
depends on the classes you choose to take.” She’s
basically just saying that different classes have different
difficulty levels. The work you do varies on the electives
you choose. And there are a lot to choose from.
Besides the electives at Traweek, Jerry DeGeorge said
that they have these electives at Covina High. “FFA
(future farmers of America) S.H.O.E (Sports, health,
Occupation, Education) They have more language
electives like Spanish, ASL, and Chinese. There’s also
way more clubs.”
Now sports. Will they be hard? Jerry DeGeorge
said “I do wrestling, and it’s really hard, and it takes a lot
of time so if you do sports, your time is very limited, so
you need to need to get your priorities straight if you
want to succeed academics, which is necessary to do
sports.”
So moving to high school might be hard, but it all
depends on what you’re used to, the classes you take,
and what you are able to do. I wish you good luck in
your future years, Titans!
