You are unique
While most of the girls
Are girly and chic
You stand out
Your character is strange
It’s not like what people have seen
Your personality is far from the normal range
There is a world of the same trends
But be a classic to create some magic
You stand out
You see everybody the same
Everybody except you
But being different Is where you want to aim
You stand out
You are different
Reflections is a contest run by
PTSA where students are given a
theme to guide them through the
project. There are six categories of
art: Dance Choreography, Film
Production, Music Composition,
Photography, Visual Arts, and
finally, Literature. I entered an essay
into the Literature category.
This year, the theme was “Within
Reach”. The coolest thing about
Reflections is that the theme is not
further explained; you have to
interpret it in any way that you
think is correct. For example, Camila
Salmeron drew a picture of a girl
peeling open the sky. I wrote about
my brother’s struggle with his
special needs. There are a couple of
winners from each category, and
those are the people that you see
here. Everybody here went on to the
district competition. There are even
winners on the national level! Next
year, submit some art to Reflections!
