What is Femineers ?
Answer: Femineers is a program that is sponsored by Cal Poly Pomona. It encourages young women to
learn about engineering. In Femineers, we do everything from coding to soldering.
What did you do on the latest Femineer field trip?
Answer: On our latest Femineer field trip, we went to a leadership convention called GirlsBuildLA. We
listened to many female guest speakers talk about their struggles and success as women. Some speakers
that we saw were Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama, and Kamala Harris.
How did you feel prior to the trip?
Answer: Prior to the trip, I was very excited. I was super happy that we would get to listen to such strong,
incredible women talk about how they overcame so many stereotypes and barriers.
What was the trip like? What did you experience?
Answer: The trip was SO fun! We experienced so many amazing things on our trip. The speakers were
really inspiring. Some of them were brought to tears when they spoke!
How did you feel during the event?
Answer: During the event, I felt extremely motivated. There were 10,000 girls in the audience that day!
10,000!!! The speakers made me feel hopeful about the future.
What do you need to be in Femineers ?
Answer: To be in Femineers, all you need is: 1. A grade of B+ or higher in math class, 2. A minimum GPA of
3.0, 3. An application with answers to a few questions about why you want to be in Femineers.
What do you feel were some of the highlights of the field trip?
Answer: My favorite part of the field trip was listening to a poet who came onstage. She wrote and
memorized a very powerful poem. She was brought to tears when she repeated it to us (as many of the
audience members were!)
