Teen Titans Magazine Vol. 5 Issue 3 Final Copy-3 | Page 14
Mario has gone through so many adventures,
but this one is the biggest that he has ever gone
through before. The game is vast, with 17 different
kingdoms and on such a small cartridge. The controls
are smooth and it’s filled with so many references to
different games, you’ll feel nostalgia for games
you’ve never even played. This game can be played
with two players, but the main mechanic of it is the
motion controls. With these you can roll faster, home
in on enemies with Cappy, and use controls much
easier with it. The motion controls are optional, so if
you want to play normally, you can. Speedrunners
like to use motion controls because they make you
faster.
The story of this game revolves around King
Bowser kidnapping Princess Peach, just like every
game, but this time he’s trying to force her into
taking his hand in marriage. So it’s Mario time and
it’s his job to stop Bowser. Mario is in a fight with
Bowser when he throws his top hat at Mario, missing
him but then the hat returns and hits Mario in the
back, sending him flying to a nearby kingdom. His
hat gets left behind, and Bowser stomps it and it gets
ripped up from the propellers of his flying ship.
That’s the start of the adventure, and once you beat
the game, it becomes a collector game.
Fun Fact:
Some Amiibos can give
you special abilities, and
even some more
costumes. Happy
Hunting!
Now, with Mario’s newest adventure, there
are sure to be new baddies and collectibles. One of
the main things that you do differently is you have to
collect these new items called Moons. What’s so
different about them is that you need to find them to
progress the game further. These get more and more
hidden as you go through the game, meaning that
they more often than not take a little journey to
find. Motion Controls do come in handy to reach
pesky Moons, and Mario actually has customization
to! Now, all the Suits are more for cosmetics rather
than functionality, but they do add a nice twist to the
game, seeing as now you can play dress up with
Mario!
You have to spend these new Purple Coins
that are hidden throughout each Kingdom you go to,
with each kingdom having 100 to find. Perfect for
getting your costumes!
