“Sfantu Nicolae” is a

located in a small town, in Transylvania, in the very heart of Romania. It has about 350 students aged from 7-19 , taught by 25 teachers, helped by 10 auxiliary staff (secretary, accountant etc). The area is inhabited predominantly by Hungarian population, Romanian population is a minority here, our school is the only Romanian school in the area. The region is quite poor, the rate of unemployment is rather high, many parents work abroad.

High school students 9-12 grades study Maths and Sciences, or Arts ( Philology). The level of the students is average, although we have students who win prizes at the county and national level at subjects like Romanian Language, History, Biology, Maths,English, French there are also students with rather poor school results.Tteachers are trying to improve this involving them in many extracurricular activities, using technology in their teaching process or involving them in projects. Both students and teachers are usually more motivated when they try new things, new methods of teaching and learning, when they escape routine.
