ENGINEERING TECHNICIANS COMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE TECHNICIAN Communication Infrastructure Technicians provide communications for the RAF’s digital infrastructure ecosystem. You will install, maintain and recover communications equipment such as antenna masks and systems, fibre optic cables and radome structures. This requires you to be able to work at heights in excess of 100 metres on support structures such as masts and towers, so you need to have a head for heights. You could also find yourself working in a secure operations room installing and repairing fibre optic and data communications cables. Communication Infrastructure Technicians spend many months on the road and there will be frequent opportunities for travel around the UK and overseas in locations such as Cyprus. 34 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AGE 16 – 48 must attest before 48th birthday GUIDELINE ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS GCSEs at Grade C (Grade 4 to 5 with effect from Aug 17) or equivalent in English Language, Mathematics or SCE Standard Grades at Grade 2/Scottish National 5 in English and Mathematics.
