Survey Says Survey Monkey ROCKS!

By Vickie Mobley

I have learned to look at many things differently since embarking on the journey that continues to lead to technological enlightenment. One of those "things" includes surveys; I never liked taking surveys because they never seemed to accomplish anything. These days however, as a budding Intructional Designer and adult ESL instructor, I have a much different opinion about the power of the almighty survey; I credit Survey Monkey for the change in my attitude.

I regard surveys as a great tool to use to not only assess how and what my students are learning, but also about my performance in the classroom and the applicability of the instruction to each learner type. In EDU652 I created an excessively wordy Power Point Presentation, "Survey Monkey: Best Practices and Survey Design." My redesign project for Week 5 in EDU697 incorporates the use of the Youtube Video, "SurveyMonkey - Creating, Sending and Analyzing a Survey." This video provides guidance in a million less words than the original Power Point, which is available for your viewing pleasure at http://www.slideshare.net/borregomom/survey-monkey-29948985.
