As noted above, concerns related to the amount of time spent on assessment reflected one of the most common themes
that came up in focus groups and interviews. Similar to survey findings, this theme was most prominent in focus groups with
teachers. Teachers’ concerns centered on reduced instructional time. For example, a middle school teacher in one of our
focus groups stated:
