Bringing
NATURE
into the classroom
Spring is a time to enjoy the outdoors! Rosie, from
Green Grubs Garden Club, shares some tips on bringing
nature inside & bringing the kids outside!
Top 5 tips for celebrating spring with your class
[1] Take a nature walk to look for ‘clues’ that spring has arrived
Kids LOVE pretending they’re little detectives! Take a class nature walk with your class
around the school and keep an eye out for ‘clues’ that spring has arrived! If you’re lucky
enough to have a class set of magnifying glasses, definitely take them with you there’s
nothing better for encouraging close observation and engagement with your local
surroundings. You can often find plastic magnifying glasses at your local dollar store, so
keep an eye out for bargains!
Clues you could look for include:
Buds & blossoms (encourage the
children to look closely at bare
twigs – you can often see buds
about to burst through)
New, fresh, lime green leaves &
bulbs
Birds (and their nests and
chicks) and other baby animals
Spring insects
Warm air, sunshine and showers
