Spring Cleaning in the Classroom, 2 3. Prep – Start preparing now for year-end. Think about the inventory lists and other reports that will be due. Start collecting the information that you will need to make these tasks easier. Go through student files and put them in order. 4. Label – Make sure that your chairs and tables are labeled with your room number. As you pack up boxes, make sure that you label it thoroughly with the contents. If you need to pack up the entire contents of a shelf or bookcase, take a picture of the way it is setup before you start packing. Then label the box with the contents and where it goes in your classroom. 5. Minimize – Start deciding now if there are things that you don’t need in your classroom. If you don’t use it regularly consider donating it. Extra clutter will just mean more work for you at the end of the year. 6. Brighten – Add some color to your room! Students (and teachers) start to feel spring fever and a need to be outside. Some bright colors will help make the room more inviting and spring-like. Bring in some flowers and put them in a color vase. Add some colored placemats under your shelves. If you have a comfy reading chair or couch, add a splash of color with a pillow or blanket. 7. Freshen – Does your room need a fresh start? Throw open the windows and let in some of the outdoors. Plug in some fragrance diffusers or add a little potpourri.
