RUNAWAY TO FAIRMONT FUJAIRAH

D
o you remember the theme
song for the 80s sitcom
Cheers? The first line of the
song says, ‘ sometimes you
wanna go where everybody knows your
name and are always glad you came’,
well that is exactly how I felt when we
arrived at The Fairmont Hotel Fujairah
in November 2019. After a long hard
term, my family and I, simply wanted
to escape to a place not so far away
from our home, in Abu Dhabi, for some
peace and quiet. As a family, we always
love going to Dibba and the Al Aqah
area of Fujairah, for short breaks. There
is just something very magical about
the mountains forming a backdrop to
the stunning coastline. So it was a no
brainer that we would choose to return
there for this well needed weekend of
rest and relaxation, the only decision
which took some time, was choosing
the right hotel. Having stayed at most
of the hotels in the area on previous
breaks, we thought this would be
a great time to check out Fairmont
Fujairah Beach Resort.

Resort website, revealed a stunning
looking resort. What was even better,
is that they also had enough activities
at the resort to keep our children busy,
so with this information, we reached
an informed decision, booked and
off we went. On arriving at the resort,
we instantly felt at home. Throughout
our stay, the staff got to know us, and
they addressed us by our names,
which made us feel right at home. Our
stay was from Thursday to Saturday.
I started my weekend with a trip to
the Willow Stream Spa, located at the
resort, and what an experience that
was. I opted for the 60 mins Emirates
Hammam. My body certainly needed
the wonderful cleanse, exfoliation and
massage, and I felt brand new after
being pampered with; dates, camel’s
milk, Arabian Coffee, Aromatic za’atar
and luxurious anti-ageing body oil. If at
any point in the term, you are feeling
a bit out of sorts, I highly recommend
this treatment.
On the first night of our stay, we were in
a celebratory mood, so we skipped the
buffet and opted instead to have dinner
After the Bell
at The Copper Lobster restaurant. This
is the resort’s seafood restaurant and
grill. The restaurant, which serves fresh
fish and other seafood, is known for
serving deliciously prepared Omani
rock lobster. The nautical-themed
restaurant, also features a London-style
gastro bar and a market-style display
room, which delighted our seven-
year-old sons as they took their time in
choosing their fish for dinner. I opted
for the lobster while my husband and
sons all went for the fish, all prepared
to order on the grill. The waiting staff
were attentive, and to our delight, the
chef even came out to greet us. A return
to The Copper Lobster restaurant is
definitely on the cards.
We opted for a one-bedroom suite
which was more than adequate for our
family of four. It had a living room with a
sofa bed as well as a bedroom boasting
a king-sized bed. The rooms and suites
have a very luxurious feel with an
Arabesque design and furnishings. Our
suite had an alfresco balcony which
provided uninterrupted, awe-inspiring
views of the ocean. We spent our days
