Meera Al Dhaheri, drummer and an avid football player at Al Bateen. Sara Al Zaabi Pianist What or who inspired you to become a pianist? I started learning to play the piano when I was really young. My mum encouraged me to do extracurricular activities. I decided to do music because I had an amazing music teacher at primary school and was inspired to continue my lessons outside of school. How does your teacher assist you in balancing your academics with your music? She fits her schedule to what I need – makes sure she finds time for me to come and practice. Give 2 reasons other Emirati students should learn to play an instrument. 1) It provides a source of comfort when you are feeling tense or pressured with schoolwork. 2) It gives you an added diverse background when applying for higher education studies. Who is your role model? Why? My mother is my role model. She puts my education first (above anything else). She understands that education must be a priority if you want to achieve anything.
