TOI ORA
The c* pass
Like our great ancestors, we look to Te Pō,
the space that blankets our sky each day
to reveal the tapestry of stars that connect
us to our ancestors and future generations.
It is in the darkness, that we see the light
of our tomorrow.
Determined by our eighteen iwi, our Toi
Ora compass weaves the sacred threads
of He Pou Oranga with the four elements
of Toi Ora, to strategically coordinate our
most distant horizon of Toi Ora.
Toi, our Kaitiaki guides the way as we look
for cues within our environment to inform
our direction.

THE NEEDLE
Te Waka o Toi is the needle of our
wayfinding compass, guided by the Pou-
urungi and our Tohunga on board. It
affirms the notion that we are able to travel
360 degrees in any direction. However, our
compass provides us with key reference
points so that we may stay within the zone
of Toi Ora, the house of Manu.
THE ELEMENTS
The interconnected elements of Toi Ora,
provide the reference points of the
compass and outcome domains we will
pursue as we look to the house of Manu to
wayfind Toi Ora.
THE SOURCES OF MANA
Ngā Pou Mana o Io, the five cornerstones
of He Pou Oranga Tangata Whenua - Mana
Atua, Mana Tūpuna, Mana Whenua, Mana
Moana and Mana Tangata orient our
compass toward our ancestral teachings
and knowledge systems.
