Outdoor Learning S4 Geographers enjoyed a field excursion in Dunkeld to gather data for their National 4 and 5 courses. All pupils collected information on the attractions and problems Dunkeld experiences as a tourist destination. They enjoyed interviewing residents and shoppers, experienced measuring footpath erosion and will now process this data in class to complete their individual assignments. Well done everybody – a great day. Website Contact us Twitter Duke of Edinburgh – Bronze Qualifying Expedition On 23 August, this year’s first group of pupils set off on their Bronze Qualifying Expedition. We arrived at Dunkeld in good spirits and, after a tricky moment trying to navigate out of the car park, our two teams set off on their two-day trek. Throughout the expedition both groups showed admirable teamwork, helping and encouraging each other through the challenges of midges, mud and map-reading! At camp, our teams pitched their tents in a very neat row (so they could all take advantage of the stunning scenery…?) before discussing the finer points of cooking pasta. Our assessor, Jeff Banks, enjoyed the special delivery of a birthday cake, biked in across the hills, which was soon demolished by our grateful, hungry crew. On the second day, the teams again showed their increased confidence and competence in navigation. They were all still smiling as they climbed the final hill before their long descent back down to Dunkeld. Another excellent effort from pupils and staff alike – Silver Award, here we come!
