Enshine-Singularity

★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Jari and Sebastien are so talented in their ability to blend musical notes from simple composition to grand harmonious blends. The best part is that they do not overdo the musical harmonies. It is almost as if the music is all natural. Singularity is a perfect example of the "less is more" phrase, because with just minimal chord structure and note progression they are able to harmonize melodies that others are not even near mastering. The music that they create is more like a composition than a simple bar song.

"Apex" was a great way to end the CD, it really blends all of their elements of genius and master metal composers, and brings forth the end of a great CD. From their first CD to now you can see that these guys are not only masters at their instruments but masterful composers blending classical compositions with ethereal trance inducing soundscapes with dark guitar melodies and heavy undertones of Death Doom Metal that others can only hope to achieve in a career of making Metal. SIVYJ YAR - BURIAL SHROUDS

★ ★ ★ ★ ★★★

The name, Sivyj Yar, is supposedly taken from an ancient Slavic Deity. I have yet to find confirmation on that, through my personal research, yet I believe it. Vladimir is the solitary member, and has been since it's inception. The agony and heartfelt, textured screams, bring to light that earlier bereavement that I mentioned. Some spoken word, and female background vocals are present, although, not prevalent. The atmosphere is chilling, and the overall musicianship is exceptional. For a one-man band, Sivyj Yar introduces elements that will humble you, depress you, and enlighten you.

'Burial Shrouds' further cements Sivyj Yar within the post-BM, Extreme Metal world. Be sure to pick this one up and give yourself a lesson in Russian tragedy, via the Pagan view which only Vladimir could create! By John Lester
