HOW FUNCTIONAL IS YOUR CLUB?

Are you proud of your aquarium society? Do you attend every meeting? Do the other
members attend regularly and enthusiastically support group projects? Or have you become discouraged by poor attendance, lack of cooperation, and manifestation of the
petty animosities that seem to be generated in our hobby more than in others?
If the letter is true, and you have a sincere desire to correct those conditions, you must
have wondered why members no longer have the interest they had when the group was
formed or when they joined the group.
My answer is that an organization existing solely for the pleasure and enlightenment of
its members cannot continue to hold people of such divergent interests as exists in the
fish hobby. Compare your club with those organizations which are outstanding in your
community, and you will soon discover what is lacking. Our hobby attracts all kinds of
people from every type of background and occupation.
