Emily Cromwell Emily Cromwell Illustration Paper Goods I have been drawing since I was a young girl, and I have continued to do it into my twenties. I opened Emily Cromwell Illustration out of my love for drawing happy and whimsical illustrations that make people feel joy and happiness. I grew up being inspired by quotes and inspirational phrases, and that motivated me to also get into hand lettering and lettering things that bring inspiration and happiness to others. “All of my designs are colorful and whimsical, and they all have a touch of happiness to them to make everyone smile.” What made you start your small business? I started my business when I was 16 years old. I never wanted to participate in the usual high school activities like sports and parties, so instead I took myself to the town hall one day and applied for a business license, and I’ve been moving forward ever since! I started my business because I wanted to make a difference in the world by illustrating designs that make people happy, no matter what kind of day they are having. What is your favorite part in the process of designing products? My favorite part in designing products is the ability to bring to life an illustration that only exists in your mind. One of my favorite parts about being an illustrator is you’re able to bring your vision to life and it only exists after you translate it onto paper. What’s been your most popular item or line to date? So far, my most popular and best-selling item is my Mini Encouragement Card Set. It’s a pack of 10 business card size cards that each have their own inspirational and upbeat phrase accompanied by a colorful illustration. I designed these cards in hopes that they could help others who may need a bit of extra encouragement to help them during tough times. emilycromwell.com 8 | Vol. 8 | GBK’s MTV Movie Awards Celebrity Gift Lounge
