Erica Taylor Paper and Place For The Home Paper and Place is my small studio specializing in travel map, postcard and rustic copper goods. My collection is designed to connect adoptive parents, humanitarians, world travelers and military families to special places and their loved ones. “The coolest part of my design and creation process is that every day I get to see the world. I scour maps for hours looking for known and often times extremely remote travel destinations. My customer’s requested map locations have allowed me to develop a very long personal travel bucket list.” What’s been your most popular item or line to date? To date, my most popular item is my custom map letter opener. Around the world you can find hundreds of them sitting on the desks of corporate executives, pilots, missionaries, travel enthusiasts, teachers, and postal workers. What is the biggest challenge you face during your daily schedule? My biggest challenge is that there never seems to be enough time in my day. Setting priorities and developing better time management skills has allowed me to find and maintain a positive work/life balance. What’s the best lesson you have you learned in running your own business? I’ve learned that the Internet is a big ocean. If you’re running an online business and you want to be consistently found you must make it your mission to learn all about search engine optimization (SEO); sell on more than one online marketplace; have attentiongrabbing photos; and learn the ins and outs of international shipping to cast a wider net. paperandplace.com 18 | Vol. 7 | GBK’s Golden Globes Celebrity Gift Lounge
