Dori Fitzpatrick Hunky Dori Boutique Crocheted Goods A craft passed down by my Nana grew into Hunky Dori Boutique. I started Hunky Dori Boutique when I couldn’t find the baby blanket I was dreaming of for my baby-to-be. I went back to my childhood hobby of crocheting and created a fun, hip, and custom baby blanket. A blanket led to a scarf, a hat for me, and then baby hats for my girls. “My love of textiles has been with me from the beginning.” Tell us about your professional background/education. I went to school in NYC at the Fashion Institute of Technology and earned two degrees, textile development and apparel manufacturing. I spent many hours in the knitting and weaving lab working with yarns and textiles. After college I worked in NYC for a few different fashion companies, until finally settling in the Hamptons. There I started working for Calypso St. Barths which eventually led me into the position of buyer for their Home line. What’s been your most popular item or line to date? One of my most popular items is a hat I designed that was featured on CW’s “The Vampire Diaries” through The Artisan Group. I wanted to create a versatile, ontrend hat for the main character, something different than the typical beanie style and that would work with the shows clothing style. It’s a hip, chunky, newsboy hat that can be worn around town running errands or dressed up for date night. Are there any moments that stand out for you over the years? My hats have been placed on “The Vampire Diaries”, NBC’s “Parenthood”, and NBC’s “Today Show”. As I was flipping though Traditional Home Magazine I saw my hat in the closet of Bethenny Frankel’s daughter which was also such a thrill! hunkydoriboutique.etsy.com 14 | Vol. 7 | GBK’s Golden Globes Celebrity Gift Lounge
