Eileen Collins, born in 1956 in the United States was the first female shuttle pilot and
shuttle commander. She made four spaceflights: in 1995, 1997, 1999 and 2005.
Claudie Haigneré, born in 1957 in France was the first French woman in space. She made
two spaceflights: in 1996 and 2001.
Peggy Whitson, born in 1960 in the United States was the person to be the most amount of
time in space for a US astronaut (665 days in total).She has also made the most
EVAs(spacewalks) and the most time spent on EVA of all female space travellers and was
the first female ISS commander. She is also the oldest female in space(aged 57). She has
made four spaceflights: in 2002, 2007 and 2016.
Anousheh Ansari, born in 1966 in Iran was the fourth space tourist and the first female
space tourist. She was also the first Iranian in Space, in 2006.
Barbara Morgan, born in 1951 in the United States was the first educator astronaut
(Teacher in Space Project) in 2007. She was also the oldest woman in space by the time
of first flight, when she was 55.
Liu Yang, born in 1978 in China was the first Chinese woman in space, in 2012.
Samantha Cristoforetti was born in 1977 in Italy was the first ESA Astronaut. She was also
the first Italian woman in space and first Italian woman on ISS in 2015.
