Blue Sky Thinking

The Blue Sky Thinking Challenge is an opportunity for participants to put creative and strategic thinking into action by addressing an organisational "Wicked Problem."

Participants are taken through a step-by-step process. They are provided with the skills and tools in each step to explore their wicked problem as a group.

THE STEPS:

GATHER INSPIRATION

Examples include an empathy interview, shared personal experience and visual aids (the day's newspaper).

GENERATE IDEAS

In groups, participants form an ideation huddle (using idea generating techniques from the creative thinking workshop) and brainstorm ideas.

EVALUATING IDEAS

Using techniques learned in strategic thinking, the group decide on an idea to pursue.

* PRESENT YOUR IDEA

BUILD YOUR IDEA

Using the Jessica Symes' template, the group brings the idea together. They document the concept, objective, stakeholders, plan, time frame, and feasibility of their idea.

PRESENT YOUR IDEA

The final step is delivering a presentation of the idea to the group. This is always an exciting and energising way to end the session.
