It doesn’t hurt to prepare
yourself. And whether it’s the
inevitable uprising of the undead,
climate change, a gypsy curse
or Trump being in office that’s
got you on edge, it certainly
seems like being prepared is en
vogue. So I chatted with Dallas
Alexander, founder of Live
Elevated, to upgrade my survival
knowledge from “one episode
of Naked and Afraid” to “might
have a chance one week into the
apocalypse.” After all, if you’ve
watched anything on Netflix in
the last few years, you know that
sooner rather than later getting
trapped in the wilderness might
just be your safest bet. And
if that’s where you’re headed,
turns out a little string can go a
long way.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT

difference in survival rates between someone who is prepared and

knowing that exposure to terrible weather will kill you long before you
go hungry, that’s preparation that starts before you enter the forest.
WHY IS A PARACORD SUCH A USEFUL TOOL?
For one, it’s super easy to carry with you, whether it’s as a bracelet,
a watch band or putting a small roll of it in your pack or your pocket.
For how much it weighs and the amount of space it takes up, it pays
dividends quite substantially in the end if you’re required to use it.
SITUATION 1:
A BEAR ATE MY FISHING ROD. CAN I FIND FOOD?

fishing expedition. I was trying to fish using the paracord, but, I think
because of the width of it compared to a fishline, being clear and narrow,
the fish were not coming near my bait. And then a turtle grabbed it. I
