Swing the Fly Issue 2.3 Winter 2014-15 | Page 77

Every move a tiger makes is planned. From the angle of approach towards its prey to the placement of each step, it all has a deliberate purpose. All the best fisherman I know behave like the tiger. From entering the water without a ripple to carefully peeling line off the reel and making a short, deliberate first cast, every move is thought out. Nothing is rushed. The angle of the cast is calculated as is the rod position through the swing. Adjustments are made on the go. The fly enters the zone and the predator is always ready.
