If your D-loop is slow you can “cheat” by maintaining tension. Here I have completed the D-loop stroke but only slid my line hand halfway back to the rod hand after my D-loop haul. With a relatively slow traveling D-loop there is not enough speed to take all the slack line. Have enough sensitivity and awareness to feel the line tension and only feed what the D-loop will take.
