Steelhead Crane Fly Skater

"I tie a smaller version of this fly for trout and it has been fairly effective. I decided to tie a larger version for steelhead and tried it out on the Clearwater River, Idaho last fall. I have had luck on steelhead with other skating patterns so I figured this one could work. It raised some fish and I missed a take, so I have high hopes. It wakes and skates and as it gets saturated it becomes more of a damp pattern that continues to wake. I sometimes use it with a riffling hitch." -Mark Davis
