Recipe (from T.E. Pryce-Tannatt):

Hook: Size 6 Daiichi 2441

Tag: silver tinsel

Tail: A topping and a pair of Jungle Cock feathers, back-to-back

Butt: Ostrich herl

Body: Flat silver tinsel, jointed at the middle with two or three turns of black floss

Ribs: Narrow oval tinsel

Throat: Speckled Gallina

Wings: Tippet in strands, Married strands of white swan (sub goose shoulder), Florican, (sub peacock) cinnamon, mottled grey and mottled brown Turkey feather and Golden Pheasant tail.

Sides: Broad strips of barred Wood Duck

Cheeks: Jungle Cock; a topping over all

Horns: Blue and Yellow Macaw.

Author's Note:

This fly is tied on a Daiichi 2441 size 6 hook. This is a small platform for a classic fly, so it is imperative that thread control is exercised throughout the entire fly. Try to keep thread wraps to a minimum when trying in materials.

1. Begin with a base of white thread from the return of the hook to a point just to the left of the barb. A tag of extra small tinsel is tied in and advanced to a point about 1/16" to the right of the point of the hook. Please refer to figure one. A Golden Pheasant crest is tied in for the tail.
