We’re not really into themes (parties or otherwise), but if we had to name this issue, we would call it
‘New York’. Fresh off of Issue 02 and a crazy week at Art Basel, we hopped on a plane to NYC and
that’s where number 03 was born.
Where Miami was mainly for fun under the artsy sun, New York was for meetings, bedside pizza and
an Ashanti and Ja Rule appearance (pre fyre festival, a story for issue 04).
The city was so damn lovely to us! We hit the streets and met up with major talent like Diane Russo,
Zackery Michael, Allie Smith, and New York agencies like Society and One - some for the first time
and others just IRL. We were so humbled they gave us their time and we returned to L.A. inspired
and ready to go.
This issue has exceeded our wildest expectations. We again have so many amazing contributors new
and returning. Makeup artist Allie Smith makes a couple appearances. Her story Geode, with Michael
Donovan is one of the coolest beauty stories we’ve ever seen. One of our favorite models and cover
star, Shaun Ross brought it one rainy day in our studio. Then there is Kailas, from Issue 01, who
submitted the dopest fashion story. Really, we could go on and on, but we’ll spare you the foreplay.
While the results are dreamy, this issue was not without challenges. Like any venture, the more we
grow, the more hurdles there are for us to climb. A series of events (good and not so good) resulted
in us pushing the issue back a few months. We didn’t want to disappoint or loose the flame our last
issue had lit, but it was what it was. Who would have thought, starting magazine in in 2017 would be
tough? ;) Jokes aside, we love this industry and being able to share this project with people has been
such a rewarding feat. We are back on track now, and ready to go full speed ahead.
