DESIGNER
of DREAMS
While in Paris, if you are visiting for leisure, honeymoon
or destination wedding, don’t miss Christian Dior,
Designer of Dreams exhibition at the Musée Des Arts-
Décoratifs, the notable exhibit will be open until
January 7th, 2018.
The House of Dior celebrates its 70th year with an
ambitious and rich exhibition encompassing the
creative spirit of the House and displaying an extraor-
dinary heritage collection. The entire history of the
Maison is revealed, from its creation in 1947 by Chris-
tian Dior to all the famous designers who have followed
in his footsteps, showcasing the most iconic dresses as
well as photographs, original documents and works of
art that shed light on each era.
The exhibition also celebrates 70 years of Miss Dior, the
first-born of the House fragrances, whose elegant green
chypre scent was destined to be the scented embodi-
ment of the New Look’s revolutionary spirit.
As such, the ‘Dior, Couturier-Perfumer’ room is dedi-
cated to Miss Dior, Christian Dior’s “beloved daughter”
that launched the long and beautiful history of Dior
fragrances. Here, the most iconic Miss Dior dresses are
on display: the very first one created by Christian Dior
in 1949, Raf Simon’s “pointillist” design, and the most
recent embroidered marvel by Maria-Grazia Chiuri. In
addition, there are photos of Catherine
Dior, the couturier’s adored sister and
the inspiration behind the legendary
fragrance.
The “Dior and Grasse region” display
immerses the visitor, alongside Catherine
Dior who cultivated fragrance flowers in
Callian, in the Provencal roots of Dior
Perfumes, taking us on a journey to the
Château de La Colle Noire, Christian
Dior’s garden of Eden and his last home.
Lastly, a sensitive portrait sheds light
on François Demanchu, Dior Perfumer-
Creator, who fashioned the current Miss
Dior fragrance embodied by star Natalie
Portman.
The Art of colour. The journey continues,
immersing the visitor in the “Colorama”
universe of Dior Colour, wherein a fresco
of objects details the fundamental colours
of the House, lingering over the most
talented figures of Dior Beauty. d
