ORGANIC COTTON OR 100% COTTON Organic cotton is grown using organic means without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides and insecticides, therefore helping to improve the quality of the land, prevent water contamination and conserve biodiversity. Furthermore, organic cotton is softer than conventional cotton, it causes fewer allergies and it ensures better health for farmers and their families. ORGANIC WOOL OR 100% NATURAL WOOL Wool is a natural textile made from the fleece of sheep. Wool can only be certified organic if its production meets certain standards including no synthetic hormones, no synthetic pesticides and no genetic engineering. Organic wool is chemical free, hypo-allergenic, naturally flame resistant, durable and regulates temperature. Best of all, it’s renewable and sustainable. LINEN Linen is manufactured from the flax plant and is environmentally friendly - all the flax used to make linen is used in other ways - the seeds are pressed to make linseed oil which is used in floor coverings such as linoleum, and paint. Linen is a renewable resource, needs no irrigation and is fully biodegradable. Linen fabrics are durable, soft, breathable, moisture wicking and anti-allergenic. BAMBOO Bamboo fabric is a natural textile made from the pulp of the bamboo grass, the bamboo fibre is then made by pulping the bamboo grass until it separates into thin threads of fibre, which is then spun and dyed for weaving into cloth. Bamboo naturally possesses an anti-bacteria and bacteriostatic bio-agent called ‘bamboo kun’, allowing it to naturally flourish and grow in the wild without the use of pesticides or fertilisers. Fabrics made from bamboo are softer than cotton, with a texture similar to a blend of cashmere and silk. FELT The beauty of felt is not just in its appearance and texture but its unique qualities. Felt is made from an environmentally friendly sustainable source - wool - making it 100% biodegradable. The combination of strength, durability and its light weight make felt a versatile fabric. The wool fibres repel dirt and moisture and are fire resistant. ALPACA Alpaca fibre is an amazing natural substance. It carries a lot of benefits; flame resistance, warmth, softness and light weight. Alpaca is naturally hypo-allergenic, wicks moisture similar to cotton, breathes, warms like wool and can feel softer than cashmere. It’s really the best of all worlds (and it makes an excellent material for blankets). 20
