The Surrey Junior Masters:

U14 Rookie League (Manager Steve McNeill)
The 2016 U14 Rookie League was once again a great success in this its 10th anniversary.
With a full complement of 16 Clubs entered they were separated into four zones of four, once underway
there were some close and competitive matches in this zone stage. Once completed two from each zone
qualified for the quarter finals which were once again held at Pyrford Golf Club. The quarter finalists
were; Royal Wimbledon, Addington Court, Farleigh, West Byfleet, Burhill, Camberley Heath, Windlesham
and Wentworth.
As per the zone stage the knock out stages of the competition proved to be extremely competitive and
tight with several matches going to play off holes. A special mention and thank you must be given to
Pyrford who for the fourth year in succession hosted the Quarter Final, Semi Final & Final.
The teams winning through to the Semi-Finals were Royal Wimbledon, Farleigh, Burhill and Windlesham.
Both Semi-Finals were well fought with Royal Wimbledon and the holders Farleigh winning through to
the Final.
In the final some of the play was absolutely wonderful to watch with some terrific play from players so
young. In the end Farleigh retained the trophy, the first Club to do so in the ten year history of the
competition.
Congratulations to Farleigh the 2016 U14 Rookie League Winners and congratulations to all the players
who took part and represented their clubs so well.
Also a big thank you to all the Rookie Committee members for their help and support.
