On January 1st 2016 Royal Mid-Surrey GC Artisans and Charity GC (playing at Selsdon Park GC) became affiliated. CENTENARIES No Surrey Club will celebrate their Centenary until the year 2024. SUBSCRIPTIONS The subscriptions for 2016 have already been notified to Clubs and these are £16.25 per male playing member made up as follows: £8.00 to Surrey Golf £8.25 to England Golf. Juniors will pay only £6.00 to Surrey Golf instead of £8.00. Members belonging to two or more Surrey Clubs will only pay one County affiliation fee COUNTY CARD SCHEME A few years ago, it was agreed that, in order to stimulate green fee income, and to give added value to membership of a Surrey Club, a free county card would be given to all Surrey Club non-junior golfing members. This has proved most popular, and will continue in 2016. The county card meetings were again well supported, giving Surrey members an opportunity to play the best courses in the county under competition conditions. COUNTY RE-ORGANISATION In 2013 it was agreed that the SCGU should become an incorporated company by guarantee, and a new constitution was unanimously approved. Every Club within the Union has now agreed to join the new company Surrey County Golf Ltd. This reorganisation has proved to be a great success and several Clubs are now deciding to incorporate in a similar way. ANNUAL COUNCIL MEETING This will be held at Tyrells Wood Golf Club at 7pm on Wednesday 23rd March 2016 THE GOLFING YEAR FROM JOHN DAVIES Once again Surrey County participated fully in the inter-county matches and tournaments organised by the South East Group. Matches are now played against local counties at every age-group as well as first team and seniors levels. As a result of our junior coaching programmes, the standard of our junior elite players continues to improve, with a number of them representing their country, and with even more winning scholarships to USA universities It was gratifying to see that our stars from the last few years, Adam Gee, James Heath, and James Morrison playing on the European Tour, joining Ross Fisher, Ross McGowan, Seve Benson and of course Paul Casey on the tour in 2015. We wish them the best of luck this year. Our programmes provide a player pathway through from the RookieTour, the County Academy Programme, Junior Elite teams, to the County First Team and Regional Training. Our Development Officers, Caroline and Amanda, working for the Surrey Golf Partnership (recognised as the best Partnership in England) continue to organise golf taster days for - 22 -
