On a wonderful day with plenty of sunshine and fun waves the group surfed with the assistance of Weet- Bix SurfGroms affiliated surf school, Walkin’ On Water staff for over an hour in crystal clear gentle learning conditions. “The Surf for Life Program allows people the opportunity to come down the beach, get in the outdoors. To be able to share my passion of surfing with the Surf for Life crew, it’s just one of the greatest things,” said Walkin’ On Water coach Dan Butler. More than 5000 children have already participated in Surf for Life Project programs with the aim to have raised $100,000 by the end of 2017. Dan Husband from Kalwun Health Service said “It’s getting 068 | Issue 16 // Winter 2017 bigger every year and it gives kids that don’t have transport or funds to participate in activities like this a chance to have a go.” Surfing Australia wants to continue this fantastic initiative into 2017, but to do so we need your help! By donating today and helping to raise enough funds to put more underprivileged Aussie kids through the Surf for Life program this year, you will be helping to change their lives for the better. Kalwun Health Services aims to ensure strong awareness of cultural heritage and that the whole community has a level of respect and an appreciation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history.
