“This is such a great program for these kids. These kids have had some really tough times and to have a program like this is so wonderful thank you to everyone involved” Wesley Mission Case Manager, Bev Barnard About Surf for Life What is the goal? In just over three years, the Surf For Life Project has helped more than 3000 underprivileged Aussie kids aged from 5-12 enjoy the ride of their lives through Surfing Australia’s Weet-Bix SurfGroms program. Surf For Life is about ‘Creating the opportunity for underprivileged Australian Kids to Surf For Life’. Our target is to raise $100,000 and put 2000+ kids through the Weet-Bix SurfGroms program from funds raised through the Surf For Life Project. How does it work? Surf For Life has been developed by Surfing Australia to enable underprivileged Aussie Kids to experience the joy of surfing for life. Surf For Life partners with charities to help underprivileged kids by using surfing as a vehicle to create change and allows these kids to learn to surf in a safe, fun and exciting environment, building confidence and self-esteem while still having loads of fun at the beach. Charities can contact Surfing Australia to take part in the Surf For Life Project if they feel that the program will benefit the children in their care. Once Surfing Australia confirms that the charity aligns with the purpose of Surf For Life, a local Surfing Australia accredited Surf School is engaged to deliver the program. How can you help? “This program has been mind-blowing! I know I’m not going to have any behavioural or attendance problems on a Thursday because no one would risk missing surfing.” Jenny Wilson – Principal, Dunwich State School $25 Will fund a participant backpack which includes a rash-vest, sun-hat, Weet-Bix product, wax comb. $65 Will fund one local underprivileged Aussie kid to take part in the Surf For Life Project. $1,300 Will fund a group of 20 underprivileged Aussie kids to take part in the Surf For Life Project.
